However, these glittering and much sought-after products often come in a wide price range, from very cheap to expensive. Obviously, cheaper jewelry is not as beautiful or made to such a high level of ability and is thus inferior to high-priced jewelry. Cheap jewelry is often called "costume jewelry". This name probably comes from theater where actresses wore expensive-looking jewelry on stage and on screen. The most high-priced jewelry is often ornate and highly detailed. Population who can afford such jewelry whether buy it for special occasions like weddings, considerable birthdays or anniversaries. On the other hand, some buy high-priced jewelry as investments. Obviously, gold, silver, diamond, and platinum are high-priced commodities and are rapidly becoming scarcer each year and thus become more and more expensive.
