Pearls - The Connoisseur's option

As a buyer, seller, collector, and connoisseur of world's most historically coveted gemstone, there is one question I have answered more than any other. A question which is likely the wisest a possible buyer may ask. My acknowledge will surprise most, as it goes against the perceptions of the mean consumer. It is based on a veritable appreciation and comprehension of an astoundingly variable gem.

If you were me, what type of pearl would you choose? What type of pearl do you most appreciate and why?

Pearls

I appreciate the charm of all pearls, either they are cultured or natural. I love the metallic luminosity of a fine coast of Akoya pearls. I appreciate the various hues of a dark peacock Tahitian pearl. I respect the size and regal elegance of South Sea pearls. But there is one pearl that has captured my eye, my imagination, and finally my heart in the last decade. It is the cultured freshwater pearl.

Pearls - The Connoisseur's option

To those who have researched or naturally admired pearls, the word freshwater has a colorful, fun connotation. These are the pearls that are known for their whimsical shapes and natural hues unique to the species of mollusk which produces them. They have long been a beloved of the hobby designer, and have been an affordable alternative to the more costly saltwater pearls. Because of their abundance, their affordability, and mean lower qualities, freshwater pearls have held a lowly status among the gem-world of pearls. This status has now changed.

For the past half decade, we in the industry have been privy to one of the most splendid developments in the pearl store today. Freshwater pearls have morphed from fun, playful baubles, into gems of incredible stature. The best of them now not only rival the top grade of their saltwater counterparts, they often transcend to a level never notion imaginable. As freshwater pearls are the only cultured pearls composed solidly of nacre today, they exude the fancied attributes of natural pearls from the days of old, and they will not discolor or wear out over time.

Freshwater pearls of the crème de la crème variety, to which I refer as 'Freshadama', are what I believe to be the world's finest pearls. Not only do these pearls have the luster, shine, and shape of their saltwater cousins, they have something rarely seen in any pearl of cultured origin. They exhibit orient - the rare diffraction of light exuding from within the pearl, creating a soft prismatic glow that floats translucently on the surface. It is the charm of pearl in its purest form.

The vast majority of consumers today have never seen freshwater pearls of this grade, and my acknowledge is often met with bewilderment. "Freshwater pearls are still referred to as potato pearls and rice crispy pearls. How can a coast of these be superior to the famed Akoya, or the opulent South Sea?" they often challenge.

The surprising acknowledge is that no more than just two years ago, they could not compare to their saltwater cousins. They would rarely exhibit the lustrous qualities of Akoya pearls, or the size and symmetrical perfection of South Sea. But today they can, and they do.

Gem quality, cultured freshwater pearls of this grade are still very rare today. Only a expert is likely to carry them. They are sold under the trade name freshadama, or marketed under the quality grade "gem" - a grade never before associated with freshwater pearls in the past.

As a retailer and seeder of all types of pearls; including Akoya, Tahitian, South Sea, freshwater, and even natural, I can and indeed do appreciate them all. My job is to find and opt the most beautiful of each variety. But as a connoisseur, I can only favor one above them all - the gem quality freshwater pearl.

Pearls - Natural, Cultured, Freshwater, Saltwater - What's the Difference?

Jewelry has been a popular way of decorating oneself for thousands of years. Many population choose to use jewelry as a fashion statement or as some sort of status symbol. Other population attach more meaning to a unavoidable gemstone, piece of stone, or high-priced metal. There are many reasons jewelry is foremost to so many population in so many different cultures. One type of jewelry that has been popular for a very long time is pearl jewelry. There are many different kinds of pearls, but the most often discussed varieties are natural and cultured pearls. Here are some facts that will help you understand the difference.

A pearl is a hard round object formed and produced within the flesh of many different sorts of shelled mollusks. Many different types of mollusks can yield pearls. Among them are clams, oysters, mussels, etc. A pearl is formed simply when a very small particle or other intruder, like a grain of sand, finds its way into the mollusk and settles there. The mollusk becomes annoyed and secretes a calcium carbonate called nacre that surrounds and isolates the intruder and makes it into a pearl. This secretion process is repeated many times and forms several different layers around the particle to form the pearl. The longer the particle is inside the mollusk, the larger the pearl may become. One of the features that give a pearl so much value and beauty is the luster or iridescence that is shown off by the pearl. They are also popular for their approximately exquisite white color. Other colors are also popular, such as pink pearls and black or Tahitian pearls.

Pearls

One of the key distinctions that are foremost to make when you are referring to pearls is the divergence between natural and cultured pearls. Natural pearls are pearls that are formed without the intervention of any human to yield the pearl. Natural pearls can be formed as mentioned before by a small particle like a grain of sand or other organic organism that invades the mollusks flesh, or even by a piece of flesh that has been wounded or broken off for some reason or another. Natural pearls are approximately all the time more indispensable than cultured pearls because they are much more difficult to come by. Cultured pearls and natural pearls look approximately same on the exterior because they are formed in the same way. The one thing that makes a cultured pearl different from a natural one is the proximity of human intervention.

Pearls - Natural, Cultured, Freshwater, Saltwater - What's the Difference?

People learned that a pearl could be forced to be formed if a small piece of something were located inside of the pearl producing oyster or other mollusk. This object is regularly a small bead or piece of sand and is located inside the mollusk to promote the production of a pearl. Cultured pearls have become a kind of art form and many different shapes can be made depending on the form of the traditional implant because the pearl will regularly consequent the same shape as the object that intruded.

Another divergence to be found among pearls is freshwater or saltwater. Many pearls are produced by oysters that are found in the ocean. But there are other mollusks that dwell in rivers that can also yield pearls. Freshwater pearls are also easier for man to yield because there are less variables and potential problems in a controlled fresh water environment than in the open sea. Many population assume that freshwater pearls are all the time cultured pearls but this is not true. It is foremost to understand the divergence between cultured and natural pearls and between freshwater and saltwater pearls to for real understand why they are different.

Masonic Jewelry - A seal of Brotherhood

Masonic jewelry is worn as a sign of membership of the brotherhood or passed down as house heirlooms. Here is a guide to this unique and keen tradition.

The Brotherhood

Jewelry

The Freemasons have the longest history of any organization in the world. The first Grand Lodge was formed in 1717 in London, but there was loose organization and use of terms and symbols centuries before that. Stonemasons were the founding fathers.

Masonic Jewelry - A seal of Brotherhood

Today, it is not primary to be an actual mason to be a member as the theory of the brotherhood are self-improvement, social works and self-awareness. They were behind the creation of social schools in Europe and America.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century, they also took it upon themselves to make sure orphans, the elderly and widows were taken care of when the theory provided no protection for them. There are a lot of conspiracy theories, movies and books surrounding the difficulty of the Masons, but there is no real underground to this philanthropic and educated organization.

Types of jewelry

To designate membership in a Masonic lodge, there are a collection of Masonic jewelry pieces that a member can wear. The traditional piece is the signet ring, but there are other options as well. For the man who already owns a Lodge ring, other gift options are cuff links, tie pins, pocket watches and even pendants. These can all bear the same the emblems as the rings.

The Symbols

Symbols in freemasonry are prominent and they designate the degree of the member, the lodge and what the member wants to say about his membership. The most base symbols are the quadrilateral and compass which recite the cornerstone of freemasonry.

In the center of these tools is the letter "G", which stands for geometry, a principle of freemasonry, and for God, the traditional builder. Some other tools of the trade found in Masonic jewelry are the trowel, the plumb level and columns. There are many other symbols to select from when designing distinct pieces.

Proper wear

Only members should wear membership jewelry, but there are cases where ancient Masonic jewelry is passed down as house heirlooms. As far as how to wear the rings, there are no rules on the proper way. Some men like to wear the emblems facing them but others like to wear them facing out for others to see. Married men typically wear their rings on the right hand ring finger. Some men select to wear their ring on the pinkie finger. So, de facto it is all about personal preference and ease on how to wear the pieces.

How to clean it

In gold or silver, Masonic jewelry can be very uncomplicated or quite ornate. The more intricate the design, the dirtier it can get. Gold pieces can be soaked in warm soapy water and scrubbed with a soft brush. If there are enameled or artificial colored parts, don't soak the piece, but gently scrub with a soft soapy brush. Normally polish with a soft cloth. For sterling silver pieces, only use cleaners designed for silver cleaning. These products come in wipes, cloths and creams.

There are millions of freemasons over the world and a gift of men's Masonic jewelry is a great way to recognize his contribution to community and to honor his pride and dedication to his brotherhood.

Cultured Pearls Or Natural Pearls - What's the Difference?

What is the difference between Cultured and Natural Pearls? The difference is in the introductory way the gem is provoked. Natural pearls have formed by accident, without humans being complicated in the process. Cultured pearls have grown in an oyster or mussel after humans have inserted a tiny irritant to provoke the amelioration of the pearl.

How Natural Pearls Form

Pearls

The irritant that initiated the formation of a natural pearl may have been a toady that penetrated the shell of the mollusc, disturbing the layer of mantle cells that yield the shiny interior of the shell. These dislodged mantle cells then multiply until they meet each other, forming a small pearl sac. Inside this sac the mantle cells secrete the nacre that would regularly have formed into mother-of-pearl on the inside of the shell. But within the diminutive sac that has formed, layer upon layer of nacre builds up and grows into a natural pearl.

Cultured Pearls Or Natural Pearls - What's the Difference?

How Cultured Pearls Form

Humans deliberately insert a tiny piece of mantle tissue into a mollusc to provoke the increase of a pearl sac, where a pearl will form. Freshwater pearls are formed this way. The rest of the process proceeds the same way that a natural pearl would form. Saltwater varieties of cultured pearls have a tiny bead made from the shell of another mollusc surgically inserted along with the mantle tissue to ensure the roundness of the pearl. The oyster will then strike for home to coat the bead with layer upon layer of nacre until a pearl is built up over time.

Distinguishing between Natural and Cultured Pearls

As both types of pearls are produced by the same animals with the same nacre, they can be hard to distinguish with the naked eye. Before the arrival of tissue nucleation, the nearnessy of a bead nucleus was the determining factor in distinguishing between the two. In a process similar to the old institution of candling eggs, pearls can be held over the beam of a flashlight to try to decide if they consist of a round nucleus. Alternatively, the pearls can be analyzed under ultraviolet light that will show natural ones in varying intensities of yellowish or tan color as opposed to the blueish white color displayed by cultured ones. When purchasing what you believe to be a natural pearl, it's all the time advisable to ask the jobber to furnish certification of its being natural from a dependable gemology laboratory. There trained specialists use x-ray equipment to decide the type of pearl it is. Natural ones on average tend to be smaller in size than cultured ones. Necklaces are seldom of thoroughly uniform color and perfectly matched shapes. But because of their rarity, newly found natural pearls are regularly much more costly than cultured ones.

Other Types of Natural Pearls

Not all pearls are formed in the way described above. Some are non-nacreous. Gem experts don't consider them true pearls, because they have no nacre, but they are gorgeous and extremely valued. Examples of these calcareous concretions are those produced by the Queen Conch and the Melo Melo Snail. Both yield gem ability pearls. Pink conch pearls and orange melo melo pearls have both been determined natural pearls until up-to-date breakthroughs in the culturing of the conch pearls. Up till now almost all of those ready for sale have advanced as accidents of nature and fetch a high price. They seem to be more prone to fading than nacreous ones, so should be kept out of sunlight. The most extremely valued have an curious flame structure, which gives the appearance of fine lines reminiscent of wet silk, or a cat's eyes. These pearls are very hard to find and are regularly sold as a singular pearl or pair rather than as pearl necklaces. The pink conch pearls tend to be very small in size.

Italian Designer Jewelry

Creating masterpieces on jewelry is child's play for the Italian designers who spend their principal time in sketching the designs and then applying them on the metals. Gold is said to be the frequently used metal on which their creativity speaks the language of royalty. Right from the trendy jewelries to the traditional ones, it is an Italian designer who can best mold the metals. For the women of today jewelry precisely is a notion of something funky and fashionable with the least intrusion of the bells and charms that were used as the decorative. Gold, which was once regarded as the jewelry for the D-day occasions has now turned to be a quarterly wear. Fashion changes color with time and the tastes of women also roll along with it. With the endeavor to feed the needs of this change in fashion, designers are also storming their brains. Fashion jewelry for this matter all the time has an edge over the traditional and the so-called outdated ones. Italian designers have already earned the praise for their creativity right from the beginning of history and now they are just trying to modify it by producing something unique for the multi-tasking women of today.

The height of experimentation with the metals and the jewelries is carrying the designers to such an extent that they are trying to yield something perfect by molding steel and ceramic also. They have delivered practically a mentionable change in the function and usages of the unique material that hardly had any implication in jewelry making. Coral is also often used in manufacture designer jewelry. In fact the marriages in the middle of the coral and ceramic jewelry created by the Italian designers can look awesome and trendy on any woman irrespective of her skin color. You can get to see the sample of such an engaging piece of work with Vivace jewelry which on purchase can be shipped to the address given free of cost. These contemporary designers can practice make the jewelry for your make over.

Jewelry

They also gift some of the perfect variety on the rings and bracelets that can even look engaging on the men. Fashionable jewelry that the teenagers and the office goers love to put on is mostly light and cheaper. The risk that they try to avoid while in high-priced jewelry items can precisely be avoided when they are wearing cheap fashionable jewelry designed by the Italian designers. These designers are trying their best to show their craftsmanship straight through the magic effects that they can yield with the help of ceramic, coral along with other imitation metals. Color is a traditional factor when ceramic jewelry is concerned. These jewelries have to be painted agreeing to the need of the beloved women of today. Pearl can also be an perfect element to be used up as pendant. The creative brain of the designer decides the style in which it has to be inserted. The designers can use ceramic to generate perfect pieces of necklace, bracelets and earrings. There is a lot of scope to experiment with the earrings as they are small and can be shaped in any way you feel like.

Italian Designer Jewelry

The best part of the Italian jewelry is that the designers posses the capacity to make any dull metal graceful, with their touch. This group of Midas is innovative in anything metal or material they work on. Sterling silver can add a new meaning so that it can tell the untold story. Silver existed long back but engaging with time is a wise decision and jewelry is just a part of such movement. Colored ornamental earrings are sufficient when they are hand glazed. The working women of today love to put on only that singular type of jewelry that can glorify them and make them look awesome. The Italian jewelries are also unparallel when it comes to designing of costume jewelry and vintage jewelry. It is only a sketch that produces the greatest magic shining on the curves of women's body. Wedding ceremonies are precisely incomplete without the junk fusion collections with the glittering stones of increasing denominations studded on them in ascending order. Amethyst glass crystal beads are heavy and yield an elegant look when they are put on with orange or saffron apparels. They gift a sense of holiness, which gets reflected on the face of the woman wearing it. The Italian Designers are also expert in creating designs on brooches.

These were used long before but with the change in style their uses have diminished and hence, the designers are trying to recreate them by giving some separate forms, shapes and sizes to them. Gold items in 14 to 22 carats are light. They are simply just capable of attracting any women. They look ethnic and have the fragrance of elegance. The Italian designers have also experienced art while playing with the white gold, which is high-priced and unique in itself with the touch of elegance. Crystals are auspicious for they reflect the light that falls on them and also makes you glow. It is the Italian jewelry designers who can make fruitful use of the crystals.

They can use it simply by hanging gorgeous crystals with the important edges from a chocker or can secure assorted colors of it to generate a multi-colored crystal necklace. Leather is modified with cutter convenience to make the bracelets for the teenage boys and girls. In fact, bracelets more like the bangles can yield an exclusiveness that is desired by everyone. Body piercing jewelry can also have a major outlet in the form of the nose rings, naval rings and eyebrow rings. Though they are not of much artistic value yet to make them unique some whole of found without fail has to be inserted. Fashionable jewelries that are used in matching with the apparels are mostly made up of cheap metals, which the working women prefer the most. So, most of the Italian designer jewelries for quarterly use are being created on these types of imitation or precisely ready materials.

o Pearls are measured in millimeters. The larger the pearl the higher the cost. A 6 mm pearl is going to be much less than a 12 mm pearl

o The least high-priced pearls are the freshwaters which in general come from China. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. midpoint size is nearby 7 mm

o The best way to care for your pearls is naturally to wear them. The natural skin oils keep them moisturized. Do not put them on until you are done with your cosmetics. Polish with a soft cloth and never use jewelry cleaning products on your pearls.

o This season for first time, we are seeing pearls mixed with colored gems such as amethyst, peridot, or topaz. They compliment each other nicely - pearls with their soft and subtle shades mixed with semi costly gems with their vibrant and bold color. photo it - what a fashion statement!

o Pearls mixed with silver is also new this season. Long silver chain dangle earrings accented with pearls, or freshwater droplets set on silver.

o This season the pearl is all about the color. Pearls are ready in many hues but this season the "hot spot" is "lavender" and the lavender family ranging from pale iris to plum.

If you already own a gorgeous first-rate pearl necklace its very easy to transform it into something from this season. The jewelry in the world market is dedicated to the local market demands and wholesale/customized requirements.

The jewelry market caters to the jewelry variations that keep arrival in and out of fashion. While some prefer easy jewelry made out of any singular metal and without gemstones, others prefer flashy designs with colored stones and duplicate metal variations. Just as preferences differ, so do the designs available. One look at the typical Chinese Feng Shui jewelry in comparison to the American jewelry is enough to understand the contrast in tastes.

The younger generations are now indulging in body piercing and each of the body parts pierced demand jewelry of dissimilar designs. For example: what your wear on the belly button may not be your selection of jewelry for the ears or pierced eyebrows. It is easy to see that in spite of the variations in jewelry and the materials used since early times, the basic need to adorn the body remains the same.

Virtual Jewelry compose

Virtual jewelry form is a helpful way to form the corporeal look of a piece of jewelry without having the corporeal materials on hand. Take for example Swarovski crystal beads, most jewelry creators can only dream of working with these excellent beads.

But with the Swarovski virtual bed jewelry form application they can live that dream and put together their own fantasy jewelry. This tool is hosted by the 'create your style with Swarosvski' web site. The website also has tons of facts on Swarosvski jewelry products as well as facts about the enterprise itself.

Jewelry

You just need to make sure that you have Adobe Flash installed in order to use the create Your Style virtual jewelry form application. The create your style form tool is simple to use and much more user-friendly than other similar applications on the web. Just visit the create Your Style website and check out all of the form options. Just supervene the link below the brief instructions to get you started.

Virtual Jewelry compose

The tool allows you to undo your actions if you don't like something or mess up in the process of creating something, allowing for excellent creativity. You use the left bar to pick your beads, you can also convert the size, shape and color of your bead choice. You can then whether arrange your beads in a level line or a circle in order to begin planning your design.

Or you can pick from a pre-made template that includes hundreds of Swarvoski bead designs rather than beginning fully from scratch. One of the best features of the tool is that once you've completed your form to perfection you can print a list of the materials or save your form to be viewed at a later time.

But that isn't to say the virtual jewelry form application is perfect. Simplicity can be helpful, but also a dinky frustrating in its limitation. The program doesn't have a way to string beds together, they just sort of float side by side. For simple jewelries that need only beads for the designs this tool is perfectly alright but if you want complex designs you may find that this site is a bit lacking when it comes to styles and designs. You also can't place beads that aren't crystals for spacers. There is also a bit of range lacking for the types of crystals and sizes offered with only two pendants, four shapes, and one singular type of pearl.

However, even with these setbacks the virtual jewelry form tool at create Your Style can for real fuel your creativity. This tool is not only fun to use it could also help practice your creativity. This tool costs very dinky and easy-going most especially for population who may not have the luxury of time and financial resources to for real see a genuine Swarovski crystals.

Ring & Wedding

I'm so impressed with this item! I was worried, at first, about buying a ring online because I couldn't actually see it and try it on... and on top of that, it was relatively cheap, so again, I was worried about that, too. But when I picked up the package at FedEx, opened up the little box it came in, I was in awe.

Very nice ring! It looks way more expensive than what I paid for it. The band looks very, very real. However, I don't like the center setting; it's too high for my taste. I would like something that is set a little lower. However, if that's ok for you then this is a very nice set. It's very believable; and for those who are shy about ordering cz--remember, the ring is just a symbol of the marriage. It's the meaning behind the ring that matters. A big ring doesn't always equal a happy marriage...God Bless.

This is such a beautiful and delicate ring on the hand. It CZ is brilliant and has good "fire" but I doubt if anyone who ever saw a real quality diamond before would mistaken this ring for real unless they're more than an arms length away. It's a decent size stone and not gaudy or fake looking and for $7, an unbelievable price even though the thickness of the band is uneven; only noticeable to the wearer. It came in a beautiful silver heart shape box with a pink bow, perfect for gift. The 2 other items I bought from this vendor, I would give simialr reviews.

The diamonds are quite pretty, but the picture is definitely misleading. The stones look oval, when in fact it seems that they altered the picture to make the band and stones look larger/thicker. The actual ring is quite thin.

When I first ordered from them I ordered a Celtic black and silver band and though I loved it, I didn't feel it went well with my engagement ring. My husband and I wanted to upgrade wedding bands. I then found this one and fell in love. It goes perfectly with my engagement ring and I love how it's different and not a simple small sliver of a band. The weight takes some getting used too but it is a lovely ring!
The company was VERY good with the return, refunding my money and shipping me my new ring pronto!
I am VERY HAPPY!!

To begin with the delivery was a surprise. At first I was a little worried because the icon to track your purchased item was not up on the amazon website. So I called Diamond Divas and their customer service was fabulous. The rep told me that the link was not up on the amazon website because of some technical issues and that my ring was already in transit with the delivery date of the 12th. I was shocked and amazed that it was out that fast. The due date given for day of delivery was the 16th. Once I received my packaged I immediately opened it to check it out. As soon as I lifted the cover box the ring fell. Obviously it wasnt placed right but it wasnt damaged or scratched. The ring was still on good condition and beautiful. I was impressed and was loving the diamonds. They were so clean, clear, sparkling, and perfect. This gift was purchased for my wife for our 10th year anniversary. Im sure shell love it.

Got this as an engagement ring for my now fiancee and she loves it! The quality of the stones is good and it really is 14k white gold. It's quite stunning when light reflects on it. Went to have it appraised and it came back to about $2000. The absolute best is that it didn't break the bank. So as long as she doesn't know, I'm golden!

10k Yellow Gold 4mm Traditional Men's Wedding Band

My husband lost his wedding band, and we purchased this as a replacement. It was very reasonably priced, and is a beautiful ring. Being 10K gold, it is very sturdy and more suited for him to wear as he does woodworking and outside work. Great quality for the money.

Beautiful but, like a reviewer above thought, just not what I expected. It wasn't as large as it looked in the picture provided. My husband about sent it back. The blue diamond looks rather dark to me too, even in the sunlight. I took pictures of it, though, and it seems the color isn't so bad in pictures with the flash. Anyway, small, but beautiful. It might not look so small on a size 5 finger, but on my 7.5 finger it looks smaller than it should.

1/2ct Pave Princess Diamond Bridal Set in 14k White Gold (GH SI3 Size 4-9)
From SuperJeweler

I got this ring for my wedding in October. It arrived in a dainty little box with a bow and the ring was perfect. This particular ring appears larger than the actual size but I was not disappointed because the stone was still an impressive size (not flashy or small). When I got the ring I realized I need a 1/2 size larger and the process was really simple. I returned the ring, I got feedback on it's status and then it was exchanged and shipped back to me. The best part was that it cost me absolutely nothing and the seller did their best to get the ring back in time for my wedding, which it did.
It's very beautiful and I love it. I find myself just looking at it...like I am doing now while typing. :-)
